The first step when considering the creation of your own performances/covers is whether you want to make a project with samples and lights, or place your focus on just the lightshow.
Decision: Lightshow Only vs Samples + Lightshow
Depending on your goals, you can choose whether you want to have a performance with samples or only a lightshow. Here are the key differences:
Lightshow Only
- One main audio track (the full song or a stem)
- MIDI tracks mainly drive lights and FX
- Focus is on visual choreography and tight timing
Samples + Lightshow
- Multiple audio tracks with one-shots, chops, and FX
- More MIDI tracks for triggering both sound and lights
- Layouts designed for live variation and improvisation
